Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. It is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), Looked after Children, children adopted from care and Service Forces children. It also includes pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).

What are our aims for the Pupil Premium Grant?

The aim of the Pupil Premium is to identify and implement strategies that help to reduce the attainment gap between the most and least disadvantaged pupils nationally. We have prioritised closing the gap in literacy and numeracy as we believe that our disadvantaged pupils require most support in these key areas. Furthermore, we believe that strong literacy and numeracy are crucial for preparing children for life beyond school. We also use Pupil Premium to help fund our nurture provision as well as providing support to families.
